Professor Bipin B Bhakta

Bipin Bhakta is a Charterhouse Professor in Rehabilitation Medicine,University of Leeds; Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and Leeds Mental Health NHS Trust.

Appointed in 1997 to the University of Leeds, Professor Bhakta's research interests include assesment and rehabilitation of the arm after stroke. His main teaching responsibility is to organise the medical student curriculum in Rehabilitation Medicine.

In addition, Professor Bhakta provides an acute in-patient rehabilitation service at St James's University Hospital for people aged under 65 with neurological conditions such as stroke as well as an outpatient rehabiltiation service which includes spasticity treatment such as botulinum toxim.

He is also responsible for medical rehabiltiation with the community rehabilitation service based at St Mary's Hospital for people aged under 65 with longer term disability arising from neurological disease.
