Peter Wanklyn
Consultant Geriatrician, Leeds
Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
Trained in Birmingham, Leeds and Bradford. Appointed in 1997 to the Leeds Teaching Hospitals with a remit to develop co-ordinated dedicated stroke services in Leeds West for people aged over 65. Dr Wanklyn's current focus is on clinical service development for patients in hospital and in the community. Research interests include respiratory problems soon after stroke, nutrition and feeding issues and shoulder pain in the stroke arm. Dr Wanklyn is part of a team which has set up and runs an 18 bedded acute stroke unit at the Leeds General Infirmary and a 21 bedded rehabilitation stroke unit at Chapel Allerton Hospital.
