July 2007

Claire Worsman - Newly appointed Strategic Services Development Manager (Neurology and Stroke) by the Leeds NHS Primary Care Trust.
I was appointed to the role as Neurology Lead for Leeds PCT at thebeginning of July 2007. My role sits within Strategic
Development/Commissioning Long Term Conditions and Leeds Strategic
Partnership Older Peoples/ Disabled Peoples Team.
My remit is the implementation of the National Stroke Strategy and other
Neurological conditions such as Parkinson's disease and Multiple
Sclerosis.
I began my training in 1978 and qualified as a nurse in 1982. My
experience includes being a theatre sister and sister on medical, care
of the elderly and coronary care/cardiology wards. I was appointed
Cardiac Clinical Nurse Specialist at the Bradford Royal Infirmary and
worked for the British Heart Foundation. I moved to Leeds PCT in 2004 as
City wide Cardiac Services Manager where my remit was to implement
community cardiac services.
I have worked for the NHS for 30 years and have seen massive changes,
but I think that the NHS today is where our greatest challenges exist.
